SWTCH Energy has introduced its Canada Home Charging Program, offering single-family homeowners a free Level 2 EV charger in exchange for a $300 deposit, refunded after 1,500 kilowatt-hours of usage. The program, launched on December 11, 2024, allows homeowners to aggregate their charging data, enabling SWTCH to sell carbon credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR).
Participants can earn $100 to $150 annually from the carbon credit sales, receiving reimbursements at a rate of 3 cents per kilowatt-hour. Starting January 1, EV owners may also purchase a charger for $499 and receive 5 cents per kilowatt-hour without a deposit. Other providers, such as The Grizzl-E Club, offer similar incentives with varying deposit requirements and payout rates.
