Syria and Saudi Arabia Collaborate on Smart City Development
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Syria's Ministry of Local Administration and GO Telecom to enhance digital transformation. This initiative aims to develop smart city solutions and improve local administration through various technological advancements.

On June 18, Syria's Ministry of Local Administration and Environment signed an agreement with Saudi company GO Telecom to establish a digital transformation strategy. The memorandum focuses on sustainable smart city solutions, IoT applications for energy monitoring, and environmental quality measurement.
A joint committee will oversee project implementation and set digital initiative priorities. Initial projects will include enterprise governance systems like warehouse automation and human resources management.
The ministry will conduct pilot projects in a governorate before wider implementation. No financial commitments are specified, emphasizing cooperation over funding. Prior agreements with Türksat also aim to enhance digital infrastructure and information security.
