T2 Achieves Japan's First Autonomous Truck Toll-Gate Passage
T2 successfully demonstrated an autonomous truck passing through toll gates, marking a significant advancement in Japan's autonomous logistics. This milestone supports the company’s goal of launching Level 4 trunk-line freight services by fiscal 2027.

On June 15, T2 announced the successful demonstration of its autonomous truck navigating expressway toll gates in Japan without switching from autonomous mode. This test, conducted at the Ayase Smart interchange and Nishinomiya-Kita interchange, involved integrating high-precision 3D mapping with real-time LiDAR data for centimeter-level vehicle positioning.
T2 plans to initiate Level 4 autonomous trucking services by fiscal 2027, following the launch of Level 2 operations in 2025, which now serve 17 logistics and manufacturing firms. The company's two new TransGate facilities can accommodate eight trucks simultaneously, enhancing operational efficiency. The ability to navigate toll gates autonomously signals potential growth in Japan's logistics automation sector.
