Taiwan's Legislature Set to Resume Budget Deliberations After Prolonged Stalemate
Taiwan's Legislative Yuan agreed to start deliberating the general budget after 230 days of deadlock. The KMT, DPP, and TPP have established a framework for an interpolation session to discuss the NT$1.25 trillion defense budget and other fiscal matters.

The Legislative Yuan will begin discussions on the government's general budget after prolonged negotiations, potentially concluding a 230-day deadlock. Each caucus from the KMT and DPP will appoint five members, with the TPP contributing one, to facilitate an interpolation session on the special defense budget bill, valued at NT$1.25 trillion (US$39.49 billion).
The Cabinet has committed to amending military and police compensation legislation within six months and will also unfreeze NT$71.8 billion in opposition-backed projects. Further negotiations are scheduled for next week, focusing on arms procurement funding and operational expenses, with the aim of expediting the budget's passage.
