TelCables Plans Data Center Expansion Amid Submarine Cable Competition
TelCables seeks to enhance its presence in data centers and expand points of presence (PoPs) amid rising submarine cable competition. The company's expansion plans hinge on the outcome of the Redata program, which may impact investment decisions.

TelCables aims to expand its data center operations, including plans to enhance AngoNAP II in Fortaleza, with a capacity for 400 racks. The CEO, Rafael Lozano, indicated that investment decisions depend on the Redata program’s outcome, which seeks to reduce taxes for data centers.
The company is also increasing its points of presence (PoPs), having recently launched three in Belo Horizonte. The submarine cable market is growing at 20% to 30% annually, but operators must adapt as hyperscalers begin to build their own infrastructure, potentially creating competitive pressures and risks of market oligopoly.
