Temporary Bypass Installed for Sewer Line Repairs in Germantown, Maryland
A temporary bypass for wastewater will start on Friday following the collapse of a 30-inch sewer main in Germantown, Maryland. The pipe failure, reported Thursday, led to the closure of Germantown Elementary School. WSSC Water confirmed that drinking water remains unaffected and no wastewater has leaked. Approximately 1,000 feet of bypass piping is being installed to facilitate repairs. The road will remain closed for several days during the repair process.

Approximately 1,000 feet of 18-inch bypass piping is being deployed to allow continued flow through the intact sections of the sewer. Repairs are expected to take several days, with Liberty Mill Road closed between Dawson Farm and Pepper Court.
