Tesco Completes 600-Store Rollout of Cleaning Robots in Automation Initiative
Tesco has launched autonomous cleaning robots in 600 Express stores, marking a significant step in its automation strategy. This deployment aims to enhance operational efficiency by allowing staff to concentrate on customer service and other essential tasks.

Tesco has finalized the first phase of deploying autonomous cleaning robots in 600 Express stores, in partnership with ICE. This initiative represents the largest scale rollout of cleaning robots in the UK convenience sector.
Designed to assist employees, these 'co-bots' automate routine floor cleaning, enabling staff to focus on customer interaction and other tasks. ICE will also service cleaning equipment across all of Tesco's 2,000 Express locations starting in 2024.
This shift towards automation reflects a broader trend among retailers seeking to optimize operations and enhance service standards. The collaboration indicates potential for ongoing advancements in retail automation.
