Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has unveiled the Agricultural Defense Program (AgDefense) to protect local farmers and ranchers from agricultural pests, diseases, and predatory wildlife. The program, in partnership with the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority, is now accepting letters of intent for financial assistance projects aimed at enhancing agricultural defenses and reducing losses across the state, including in Howard County.

The Agricultural Defense Program (AgDefense) has been launched in Texas to protect farmers and ranchers from agricultural threats. Managed with the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority, it aims to strengthen defenses against pests and diseases that impact producers statewide.
The program will provide financial assistance to agencies like the Texas Animal Health Commission and Texas A&M AgriLife to implement monitoring and response strategies. Applications are accepted continuously, allowing for quick responses to emerging threats, with a focus on supporting Howard County producers in disease prevention and pest management.
