Texas Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee Appointments Announced
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed five members to the Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee to advance Texas' quantum economy. This initiative, established by law in January 2025, aims to enhance Texas' position in quantum technologies through strategic planning and funding.

The Texas Quantum Initiative, enacted in January 2025, seeks to establish the state as a leader in quantum computing and related technologies. Governor Abbott has appointed five committee members: Victor Fishman, Ph.D., Lin Zhou, Ph.D., Richard 'Ross' Coffman, John Josephakis, and Jeff Prevost, Ph.D., with terms ranging from January 31, 2027, to January 31, 2031.
The initiative includes a strategic plan and grant fund to support research and workforce training. The urgency of quantum technology is emphasized by industry experts, who note that preparation for its impacts should start now.
