Thailand Allocates Funds for Ta Krabei Temple Restoration Amid Dispute; BTG Pactual Raises $1.24 Billion for Reforestation
Thailand's allocation of 20 million baht for restoring Ta Krabei Temple has raised concerns of territorial claims from Cambodia. Meanwhile, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group secured $1.24 billion in commitments to restore forest in Latin America, signaling ongoing climate action despite market challenges.

Thailand has announced a budget of 20 million baht (approximately $615,000) for the restoration of Ta Krabei Temple, which is located in a disputed area previously identified as Cambodian territory. Cambodia has expressed its opposition to this unilateral restoration, citing potential territorial implications without a clear ruling from the International Court of Justice.
In a separate development, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group has raised $1.24 billion for its Latin America Reforestation Strategy, aimed at restoring around 660,000 acres of degraded land. This fund is structured to produce nature-based carbon credits and is supported by various investors globally.
The reforestation effort is vital for combating climate change, especially in light of declining global carbon market values. Potential risks include political backlash affecting investment stability.
