Thailand's Eastern Border Crossings Remain Closed Amid Lack of Diplomatic Progress
Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that border crossings in Trat and Chanthaburi will remain closed, with no timeline for reopening. This decision follows Cambodia's request to reopen these checkpoints, which Thailand deems inappropriate at this time.

The border crossings in Trat and Chanthaburi will not reopen, as stated by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, due to the absence of diplomatic discussions with Cambodia. Royal Thai Navy (RTN) commander-in-chief Adm Pairote Fuangchan inspected the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defence Command, highlighting its role in safeguarding Thailand's eastern border.
He emphasized the necessity for readiness in personnel development, equipment, and tactical adaptability. Furthermore, RTN spokesman RAdm Parach Rattanachaiyaphan refuted claims regarding the opening of channels for humanitarian aid to Cambodia through these crossings. The ongoing closure may strain regional relations and impact humanitarian efforts.
