Thomas Dominguez Walker Wins Advanced Apprentice of the Year at Nuclear Skills Awards
Thomas Dominguez Walker, an assistant cybernetics engineer at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), was awarded Advanced Apprentice of the Year at the Nuclear Skills Awards ceremony in Manchester on March 12. Recognized for his technical skills and work ethic during his Level 3 apprenticeship, he contributed to the Robotics and AI Collaboration (RAICo) and supported research in nuclear decommissioning and fusion engineering. Dominguez Walker aims to inspire others to pursue engineering apprenticeships.

Thomas Dominguez Walker, an assistant cybernetics engineer at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) in Abingdon, was named Advanced Apprentice of the Year at the Nuclear Skills Awards on March 12 in Manchester. His recognition stems from his technical abilities and dedication during his Level 3 apprenticeship, during which he worked on RAICo projects focusing on robotics and AI in nuclear settings.
He completed 18-month placements at UKAEA and RACE, and earned a Higher National Certificate with distinctions. Dominguez Walker now works full-time at Culham, continuing to contribute to RAICo.
