Three Organizations Awarded Funding for AI Transport Solutions by Connected Places Catapult
Connected Places Catapult has announced funding for three organizations developing AI technologies for transport. KIGO will enhance school-run travel with its AI-powered mobility platform, while MoniRail will use AI for predictive maintenance of railway tracks. Each organization receives £13,000 and support to engage clients, having been selected from 83 applicants in the 'Smarter Transport Systems - AI in Transport' competition.

Connected Places Catapult awarded funding to KIGO and MoniRail for AI transport solutions. KIGO's School-Run Optimiser aims to improve school-run travel and promote walking and cycling. MoniRail's system uses AI for predictive maintenance of railway tracks.
Each will receive £13,000 to develop business cases, supported by the Catapult in client engagement. The competition, funded by the Department for Transport, had 83 applications, with 23 shortlisted. Earlier this month, the selected companies pitched their innovations to a panel of judges, including Transport Minister Lilian Greenwood MP. The initiative seeks to digitalize and integrate transport systems in the UK.
