Tobermory Community Centre EV Chargers Reinstated After Long Downtime
The electric vehicle charging stations at Tobermory Community Centre are now operational after nearly three years of inactivity. This reinstatement follows a lightning strike in 2023 that disrupted power and subsequent grounding issues faced by ChargerQuest.

The electric vehicle charging stations at the Tobermory Community Centre have resumed operations after being out of service for nearly three years. ChargerQuest, which expanded its EV Fast Charging Hub to this location in 2022, encountered persistent grounding issues and complications with the local power grid following a lightning strike in 2023.
The physical infrastructure contract remains with ChargerQuest, while Noodoe manages the network, cloud automation, user app, and payment processing. The current charging rate is set at 46 cents per kWh, allowing for a charge of up to 120 kW.
Hydro One oversees the high voltage power lines supplying the site, with the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula as the landowner. This reinstatement may lead to increased EV adoption in the area, enhancing local infrastructure for electric vehicles.
