Turboden Launches World's Largest Steam-Producing Heat Pump at delfort Paper Mill in Austria
Turboden S.p.A. has launched the world's largest steam-producing heat pump at delfortgroup AG's paper mill in Austria. The system operates 10% above its guaranteed Coefficient of Performance (COP) and is designed to decarbonize industrial steam generation. It generates 12 MWth of superheated steam using CO-free electricity and low-temperature waste heat, expected to avoid approximately 19,000 tonnes of CO emissions annually. This project marks a significant milestone in delfort's decarbonization efforts and reinforces Turboden's role in advancing electrified heat solutions.

Turboden S.p.A. has successfully started the world's largest steam-producing heat pump at delfortgroup AG's paper mill in Austria, achieving a Coefficient of Performance (COP) 10% above the guaranteed value. The system produces 12 MWth of superheated steam and utilizes CO-free electricity alongside low-temperature waste heat from the paper manufacturing process.
This technology is expected to prevent around 19,000 tonnes of CO emissions annually. The project exemplifies the viability of large-scale heat pump technologies for decarbonization in industrial applications, marking a key milestone in delfort's decarbonization journey and Turboden's commitment to sustainable electrified heat solutions.
