Turnbull Excavating, founded in 1986 and based in Estevan, will celebrate its 40th anniversary on April 10, 2026, with an event recognizing both employees and customers. The company has grown to operate 30 trucks and 50 pieces of heavy equipment, serving a 160-kilometre radius.
Following its initial focus on residential groundwork, it has expanded into commercial projects, sewer and water main installations, and concrete services, including owning a batch plant since 2008. The firm emphasizes safety and community involvement and has received multiple awards, including Business of the Year in 2013.
The next generation is being prepared for leadership as founder Ed Turnbull transitions ownership to his son Tyson, who aims to continue the company's legacy while integrating new services, such as a concrete pump truck. The company's future growth potential is tied to its ability to adapt to industry demands and maintain strong community ties.
