UAE's MOCCAE and Al Rostamani Group Organize Community Mangrove Planting in Dubai
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) and Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, supported by Al Rostamani Group, conducted a community mangrove planting event at Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai. This initiative aims to promote nature-based solutions and aligns with the UAE's 'Year of Family' initiative.
The event included participation from MOCCAE officials and Al Rostamani Group leadership, emphasizing family unity and public-private collaboration in biodiversity protection. This effort is part of the national target to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030, contributing to the UAE's Net Zero goal by 2050.
The partnership is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in October 2023, which enhances mangrove cultivation and establishes a nursery for increased seedling production. Mangroves are crucial for carbon sequestration, coastal protection, and marine biodiversity enhancement.
