Ukrainians Select 'Syayvo' as Name for National LLM
The name 'Syayvo' has been chosen for Ukraine's national Large Language Model (LLM) following a public vote involving over 136,000 participants. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, aims to enhance digital services across government, education, and defense sectors, bolstering data processing and automation capabilities.

The name 'Syayvo' received 22,600 votes in a selection process for Ukraine's national LLM, with participation from over 136,000 citizens. The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasized the importance of uniqueness in the naming process, as the chosen name will play a crucial role in various sectors, including government services and education, facilitating faster data processing and automation.
Beta testing for the LLM is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. In December 2025, the Ministry, in collaboration with Kyivstar, selected Google's Gemma 3 model for training the LLM, which has shown effectiveness in previous Ukrainian and Bulgarian language models. This development could significantly impact the country's AI capabilities and digital infrastructure.
