Ulrich Lotz Advocates for Innovative Concrete Solutions in Construction
Ulrich Lotz highlights the advanced use of prefabricated concrete components in Austria compared to Germany. This focus on efficiency and sustainability is critical as the sector aims for climate neutrality by 2040.

Ulrich Lotz, Managing Director of the Concrete Associations of Baden-Württemberg, noted that Austria's prefabrication in construction, particularly in integrated heating and cooling systems, is more advanced than in Germany. He emphasized the need for the industry to adopt lean management practices to enhance efficiency and resource savings.
Companies like Mischek and Strabag have developed systems for serial housing solutions. In contrast, German firms often produce individual components. Lotz expressed concern about the perception of concrete's sustainability in Brussels, where many favor wood. He advocates for embracing slim concrete components as a transformative solution, while acknowledging that achieving climate neutrality by 2040 requires addressing infrastructure gaps for carbon capture technologies.
