UNICEF and Turkmenistan Launch Solar Power Station at School No. 36
A new solar power station opened at School No. 36 in Mary, Turkmenistan, aims to enhance energy efficiency and serve as a renewable energy lab for students. This initiative supports the country's climate goals, including a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

UNICEF and the Ministry of Education inaugurated a solar power station at School No. 36 in Mary, featuring a 12.5 kW photovoltaic array and 48-kWh battery storage. This facility will power outdoor sports lighting and serve as an educational resource for students in the region.
The project aligns with Turkmenistan's Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement, which targets a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The solar station exemplifies the country's commitment to renewable energy and improving school infrastructure under the Green School Programme, which aims to enhance safety and sustainability in learning environments.
