QUANTUM COMPUTING

The University of Naples Federico II launched the Quantum Internet Testbed, a unique open lab in Europe for developing quantum internet solutions. Led by Professors Angela Sara Cacciapuoti and Marcello Caleffi, the facility aims to advance quantum network technologies and support interconnection of quantum computers.

Funded by PNRR and in collaboration with the RESTART Foundation, the testbed focuses on technologies suitable for industrial environments, promoting multi-vendor integration. The initiative was presented at the 'Towards a National Quantum Internet Infrastructure' workshop, attended by various stakeholders including university officials and government representatives. Alessio Butti, Deputy Minister for Innovation, emphasized the need for a common language among scientists and industry to foster a national quantum community.
