University of Pretoria Establishes National Quantum Technology Hub
The University of Pretoria (UP) has been designated as the sixth node of the South African Quantum Technology Initiative (SA QuTI), receiving five years of funding from the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation. This hub aims to advance research and training in quantum technologies, enhancing South Africa's capacity in sectors like healthcare, finance, and cybersecurity.

The University of Pretoria will host the UPQust hub, part of the South African Quantum Technology Initiative, supported by five years of funding from the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation. The initiative focuses on quantum computing, sensing, and metrology, with applications in various industries including agriculture and cybersecurity.
This interdisciplinary collaboration involves multiple UP faculties and aims to develop technologies that address national priorities and enhance economic competitiveness. With international partnerships, the hub is poised to elevate South Africa's position in the global quantum landscape and foster a sustainable ecosystem for future research and skill development.
