UP Catalyst and SGC Energy Join Forces to Convert CO2 Emissions in South Korea
UP Catalyst and SGC Energy are collaborating to implement carbon utilization technology in South Korea, converting CO2 into valuable materials. This initiative addresses the growing demand for sustainable inputs in the battery manufacturing sector.

UP Catalyst and SGC Energy will establish a demonstration unit in South Korea to evaluate molten salt electrolysis technology for converting CO2 into battery-grade carbon materials. SGC Energy will provide CO2 supply and utilize its industrial carbon capture facility in Gunsan, while UP Catalyst will leverage its proprietary process developed in Maardu.
The partnership aims to explore commercial-scale facility development and longer-term cooperation models, such as joint ventures. This initiative highlights the potential of turning CO2 emissions into high-value industrial feedstock, supporting decarbonization goals and enhancing supply chain resilience in the battery sector.
