Urenco Partners with Bechtel to Expand Nuclear Energy Facility in the UK
Bechtel has been selected by Urenco to enhance the Tails Management Facility in Capenhurst, England, crucial for nuclear energy. This partnership aligns with the UK's strategy to achieve 24GW of new nuclear capacity by 2050, addressing clean energy demands.

Urenco has engaged Bechtel for the advancement of the Tails Management Facility (TMF) at its Capenhurst site in England, enhancing nuclear energy capabilities. Bechtel will deliver front-end engineering and design (FEED) services, facilitating the conversion of depleted uranium hexafluoride into safe storage and hydrogen fluoride production.
The TMF is essential for processing low concentration uranium 'tails,' contributing to the UK's goal of generating 24GW of nuclear capacity by 2050, which will supply about 25% of its electricity. Cavendish Nuclear will assist Bechtel in this project, continuing their successful history of collaboration on UK nuclear initiatives. This expansion is pivotal as countries seek to bolster energy security through clean nuclear power.
