U.S. Army Awards General Dynamics $43.5M for M1A2 SEPv3 Tank Production
The U.S. Army has modified a contract with General Dynamics Land Systems, increasing funding for M1A2 SEPv3 tank production by $43.5 million. This contract extension supports ongoing modernization efforts, with work scheduled until January 31, 2028.

The U.S. Army has awarded a $43.5 million contract modification to General Dynamics Land Systems for the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tank production. This SEPv3 variant includes advanced features such as improved fire control, under-armor auxiliary power, and enhanced communications.
The contract modification is the sixth amendment to a long-standing procurement agreement managed by the Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal. The Army's current production standard, SEPv3, is being integrated into active formations, with multiple brigade combat teams already equipped.
The Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima, Ohio, is the primary production facility, ensuring military control over tank manufacturing capacity. This funding will sustain operations and future upgrades as the Army continues its modernization of armored forces.
