US Army Contracts Genesis Systems for $50 Million Water Generation Technology
The U.S. Army has awarded a $50 million contract to Genesis Systems for developing atmospheric water generation systems. This initiative is crucial for providing potable water to military personnel in remote areas, reducing reliance on traditional supply chains.

The U.S. Army's nearly $50 million contract with Genesis Systems focuses on the research, development, and procurement of WaterCube Atmospheric Water Generation systems. These systems are designed to produce potable water on-site, yielding about 1,000 gallons per day in humid conditions, and are intended for use in austere environments where conventional resupply is problematic.
Units are prepositioned for 2024 to assist post-Hurricane Milton. Despite their advantages, the systems require significant electrical power and maintenance. The initiative aims to enhance operational sustainability and reduce logistical burdens in military operations. Additionally, the technology could address water scarcity issues in arid regions, particularly in the western U.S.
