US Awards Bell $18M for Nigeria AH-1Z Viper Training Device
The US has awarded an $18 million contract to Bell Textron for an AH-1Z Viper training device for the Nigerian Air Force. This initiative supports Nigeria's military expansion and training efforts amid ongoing security challenges.

Bell Textron will develop an AH-1Z Viper flight training device for the Nigerian Air Force under an $18 million contract, with work expected to complete by January 2029. The training device, produced in Oklahoma and Texas, will aid Nigeria in operating the AH-1Z Viper helicopter, which is designed for various combat missions.
The US State Department previously approved a $997 million sale for 12 helicopters to Nigeria in 2022. Nigeria's military is expanding its forces, planning to recruit an additional 28,000 troops to combat security threats. A new Wargaming Center was established to enhance military training, while the US plans to deploy 200 troops to assist in training efforts.
