U.S. Officials Highlight South Korea's Role in Semiconductors at Pax Silica Summit
Senior U.S. officials recognize South Korea's significant contributions to semiconductor production and AI supply chain security at the Pax Silica summit. The initiative aims to establish a trusted supply chain ecosystem amid competition with China.

At the Pax Silica summit in Washington, South Korea was acknowledged for its robust semiconductor production capabilities by U.S. Under Secretary Jacob Helberg. The summit features nearly 20 countries and targets the development of a secure AI supply chain, critical for countering China's influence.
Helberg announced initiatives like the 'Pax Pass' for expedited shipping of AI products and a workforce development initiative in collaboration with Stanford University. The participation of Argentina in Pax Silica aims to enhance its role as a reliable supplier of critical minerals, aligning with U.S. interests. This partnership may reinforce supply chain resilience but risks maintaining Argentina's extractive role without advancing its industrial capabilities.
