U.S. Sugar has deployed the largest fleet of autonomous tractors in the American sugar sector, enhancing operational efficiency. This initiative marks a significant technological advancement in agriculture, with plans to expand usage across 255,000 acres over the next decade.
U.S. Sugar has initiated the largest commercial deployment of autonomous tractors in the U.S. sugar industry, utilizing a fleet of unmanned John Deere vehicles. The operation includes four 8R Series and one 9R Series tractor, retrofitted for continuous operation, supported by Autonomous Solutions, Inc.
(ASI). A central command post monitors the fleet using ASI's Mobius platform. Following an 18-month development phase, the technology will cover U.S.
Sugar's 255,000 acres in South Florida. The move aims to maintain employment while enhancing workforce skills and productivity through automation. The deployment promises improved accuracy, sustainability, and reliability in land preparation, with future expansion planned for other crops.
