Wagga Service Station Shell Tolland Runs Out of Fuel Amid Pay-Before-You-Pump System
Shell Tolland in Wagga has run out of fuel after switching to a pay-before-you-pump system. The service station has closed its pumps after 7pm and is advising motorists to prepay for fuel in the evenings. Fuel thefts have increased in NSW amid price hikes. On March 25, 32 service stations, including Shell Tolland and Silvalite Fuel Shop, reported fuel shortages. The NSW government is seeking transparency from major fuel companies regarding supply to address the crisis affecting regional areas.

The increase in fuel theft incidents has been noted, prompting NSW Police to issue warnings. Member for Wagga Dr. Joe McGirr has called on the government to urge major fuel companies to better allocate supplies to independent retailers, citing risks to agriculture and industry. NSW Energy Minister Penny Sharpe stated that the government will seek data from fuel companies to ensure adequate supply, especially to regional communities.
