Watershed Launches 2026 Carbon Removal RFP for Corporate Buyers
Watershed has initiated its 2026 carbon request for proposals (RFP) to connect project developers with over 800 corporate buyers, including Fortune 500 companies. The goal is to facilitate the supply of carbon removal and emissions reduction credits, aiming to reduce or remove 500 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions by 2030. The new RFP follows a previous round that saw participation from over 300 projects across 55 countries, leading to more than 100 purchase agreements and $120 million in commitments.

The initiative supports Watershed's goal of reducing or removing 500 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions by 2030.
The company aggregates demand from over 800 corporate customers, including Fortune 500 members, to improve access for developers. The previous RFP attracted over 300 projects from 55 countries, resulting in more than 100 purchase agreements.
The current RFP seeks projects in durable carbon removal, nature-based solutions, and superpollutant avoidance. A webinar on March 19 will discuss insights from the first RFP.
