Weba Chute Systems Enhances Screening Efficiency at Sierra Leone Iron Ore Plant
Weba Chute Systems redesigned a transfer chute at a Sierra Leone wet iron ore plant, improving screening efficiency and reducing spillage. The redesign involved Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) to optimize material flow and introduced a manually adjustable valve for better mass flow distribution. Collaboration with Sandvik Rock Processing and local fabrication of components were key to the project's success.

Weba Chute Systems improved screening efficiency at a Sierra Leone wet iron ore plant by redesigning a transfer chute. The previous chute caused 80% of material to run to one side of the screens at high velocities, leading to spillage and downtime.
DEM was used to assess screen loading profiles, and the new design included a manually adjustable valve to equalize mass flow and diverter gates for even slurry distribution. The project involved collaboration with Sandvik Rock Processing and local fabrication of components, enhancing plant uptime and operational flexibility.
