Wiltshire College Students Plant 800 Metres of Hedgerow as Part of Sustainability Initiative
Students at Wiltshire College & University Centre are planting 800 metres of hedgerow and dozens of trees at the Lackham campus, supported by a grant from the Great Western Community Forest project. The initiative aims to establish 4,000 hedgerow plants and improve carbon capture while providing shade and boosting biodiversity. The project, led by Wendy Green, involves over 40 agriculture students and aims to create a wildlife corridor with native species.

Students at Wiltshire College & University Centre are planting 800 metres of hedgerow and dozens of trees at the Lackham campus as part of a sustainability initiative funded by the Great Western Community Forest project. The project will establish 4,000 hedgerow plants along a new path, with a tree planted every 15 metres.
This initiative aims to enhance carbon capture and biodiversity, using native species such as Hornbeam, Hazel, and English Oak. Over 40 agriculture students are participating, and further planting is planned if additional funding is secured.
