Xcel Energy Selects Zero Homes for $10M Electrification Program in Denver and Aurora
Xcel Energy has launched a $10 million Neighborhood Residential Retrofit Program, managed by Zero Homes, to study home electrification's costs versus traditional gas infrastructure. This program offers substantial incentives, potentially saving homeowners up to $22,500 and targeting about 2,200 homes in Denver and Aurora.

Xcel Energy is investing $10 million in a pilot program to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of home electrification compared to maintaining gas infrastructure. Zero Homes will oversee the Neighborhood Residential Retrofit Program, which offers incentives of up to $20,000 per home for heat pumps and other upgrades, with a full cost coverage for income-qualified homeowners in Valverde.
Approximately 2,200 homes will be targeted, collecting data to inform future utility investment strategies. The findings may influence how utilities allocate funds for infrastructure as they pursue climate objectives. Limited spots are available, with incentives awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
