Xiaomi Enters European EV Market, Competes with Tesla
Xiaomi aims to expand into Europe with its electric vehicles, building on 650,000 deliveries in China. The company faces challenges from established premium brands as it seeks to leverage its smartphone market presence.

Xiaomi has delivered 650,000 electric vehicles, equaling Tesla's sales in China last year, and plans to enter the European market with the YU7 model by late May. Established in 2010, Xiaomi's revenue reached $67 billion in 2022; however, the company faces intense price competition similar to that impacting BYD and other brands.
Analysts suggest that Xiaomi's established smartphone brand could provide a competitive edge, though loyalty to premium European brands remains strong. The company has opened an EV R&D center in Munich and maintains high production automation, producing a vehicle every 76 seconds. Despite these advancements, analysts caution that Xiaomi's success in China may not easily translate to Europe due to different market dynamics.
