Xiaomi Inaugurates Changping Smart Factory for Automated Smartphone Production
Xiaomi's Changping Smart Factory, inaugurated in 2024, can produce 10 million smartphones annually using advanced automation technologies. The factory, developed at a cost of 2.4 billion yuan (approximately $330 million), employs a system managing production with extreme efficiency and flexibility. By 2026, Xiaomi aims to operate ten robotic factories using its Hyper Intelligent Manufacturing Platform, which integrates AI agents, Digital Twin technology, and IIoT. The factory represents a shift towards a manufacturing-as-a-service model, enhancing production capabilities and reducing operational costs.

Xiaomi's Changping Smart Factory, opened in early 2024, is designed to produce up to 10 million smartphones annually with a cycle time of 6 seconds per device. Built on an 81,000 square meter site, the factory incorporates advanced automation technologies and an internal Hyper Intelligent Manufacturing Platform.
This platform utilizes AI agents for operational efficiency, a Digital Twin for predictive simulations, and IIoT for real-time monitoring. The facility aims to achieve ten robot-operated factories by 2026 and expands Xiaomi's manufacturing capabilities beyond smartphones to include home appliances and automotive electronics. The production line operates with only 220 staff, significantly enhancing productivity compared to traditional manufacturing.
