Yeosu City Invests 6.5 Billion Won in Urban Forest for 2026 World Expo
CARBON CAPTURE
Yeosu City is launching the Climate Response Urban Forest Creation Project at the main site of the 2026 Yeosu World Expo with a total investment of 6.5 billion won. The project will cover 6.5 hectares in the Jinmo District and include four carbon storage forests and ten shelter forests, planting 18,636 trees and 106,817 herbaceous plants.
Large roadside trees will be relocated during the construction of nearby national roads to support the urban forest. The project aims to enhance ecological awareness among visitors while improving the Expo environment. Construction began in November 2022, with plans to complete the forest before the Expo opens.
