Yokogawa Joins OIN 2.0 to Enhance Linux-Based Offshore Automation Systems
Yokogawa Electric Corp. has joined Open Invention Network 2.0 (OIN 2.0) to strengthen intellectual-property protection for Linux-based offshore automation systems. This initiative supports multi-vendor integration and remote operations using Yokogawa's OpreX platforms. The expanded OIN framework includes patent protections in AI, machine learning, and energy systems, enhancing stability and security for remote operations. Yokogawa identifies its OpreX Collaborative Information Server as a key beneficiary, with expectations for future adoption of open-architecture initiatives.

Yokogawa Electric Corp. has joined Open Invention Network 2.0 to enhance intellectual-property protections for its Linux-based automation systems used in offshore facilities. The OIN 2.0 framework expands patent protections in AI and energy systems, crucial for integrating multiple open-source components in critical environments.
The OpreX Collaborative Information Server, currently deployed offshore, will benefit from the increased stability and security provided by OIN 2.0. Additionally, Yokogawa's involvement supports its open-architecture initiatives, including Open Process Automation and Linux Foundation projects. While no direct offshore projects are tied to OIN 2.0, Yokogawa views it as a strategic enabler for future operational models, anticipating growth in remote and autonomous operations.
