Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport Receives $5M Federal Aid for Runway Upgrades
The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport will receive $5 million from federal appropriations to upgrade its runway 5/23. This funding is part of $7.9 million allocated to Trumbull and Mahoning counties, which also includes $1.5 million for U.S. Route 224 safety enhancements, $800,000 for Struthers' water pollution control upgrades, and $600,000 for Niles' sanitary detention pump station project.

Trumbull and Mahoning counties will receive $7.9 million in federal appropriations, including $5 million for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to upgrade runway 5/23, which has not been resurfaced since 1997. The Federal Aviation Administration warned that the runways were nearing disrepair.
The main runway received previous funding for resurfacing projects. Additionally, Boardman will get $1.5 million for U.S. Route 224 safety improvements, Struthers will receive $800,000 for water pollution control upgrades, and Niles will obtain $600,000 for a sanitary detention pump station project.
