Zambia's Mining Sector Attracts $12 Billion in Investments Over Five Years
Zambia's mining sector secured approximately $12 billion in investments during the last five years, as reported by Dr. Hapenga Kabeta. The government aims to increase copper production to three million tonnes annually, requiring an additional $30 billion in investments.

The mining sector in Zambia has seen an influx of about $12 billion in investments over the past five years, according to Permanent Secretary Dr. Hapenga Kabeta. To achieve a target of three million tonnes of copper production annually, the Ministry of Mines estimates a need for an additional $30 billion in investments.
Dr. Kabeta noted previous issues with the previous government's handling of mining licenses, which allowed an individual to hold 87 licenses. The current administration aims to rectify these issues to foster a more conducive environment for investment. The ambitious production target signifies a strategic growth trajectory for Zambia's mining sector, which could enhance its economic stability.
