The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) have requested equipment from the Bulawayo City Council to aid in construction for Independence Day celebrations in Maphisa, Matabeleland South. Despite concerns over costs to ratepayers, the council approved the request for a front-end loader and compressor, which were needed to transport quarry stones. Additionally, the Local Government ministry has sought donations for personnel support during the preparations.

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) requested equipment from the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) for construction in Maphisa, Matabeleland South, in preparation for Independence Day celebrations. On February 24 and 25, ZDF sought a council front-end loader and compressor to load quarry stones onto a truck for transport.
Although the loader was out of order, ZDF inspected and took it to the barracks. The council approved the request despite concerns about costs to ratepayers. Separately, the Local Government ministry requested donations for personnel support during preparations. The council aims to enhance relations with the government.
