$10B Meta Data Center Campus in Indiana to Create 4,000 Construction Jobs
Meta's $10 billion data center campus in Indiana will generate over 4,000 construction jobs and employ approximately 300 once operational. The facility aims to meet rising AI computing demands while emphasizing sustainability through advanced water management systems.

Ground has been broken on Meta's $10 billion data center campus in Lebanon, Indiana, covering 1,500 acres and consisting of 13 buildings, including data centers and support facilities. The campus will provide one gigawatt of energy capacity and is projected to create 4,000 construction jobs, with 300 permanent operational positions upon completion.
Construction is expected to continue through various phases until late 2027 or early 2028. Meta plans to implement a closed-loop cooling system to minimize water use, in addition to investing over $120 million in local water infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
The project reinforces Indiana's status as a technology hub, following Meta's earlier $800 million investment in Jeffersonville. However, industry experts note that while closed-loop systems reduce water use significantly, they may increase energy demands, raising concerns about overall resource consumption.
