125 MVA Transformer Installation in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia
The installation of a 125 MVA transformer at the Dire Dawa No. 3 substation will enhance electricity supply and support regional development. This project addresses increasing power demand and aims to strengthen infrastructure resilience.

Preparatory work for a 125 MVA transformer at Dire Dawa No. 3 substation in eastern Ethiopia is complete, aimed at meeting the rising power demand in the region. The installation is managed by local technical teams, showcasing regional engineering capabilities.
This upgrade will improve grid resilience, system stability, and reduce operational disruptions. Additionally, a dedicated 15 kV supply line will provide reliable electricity to Dire Dawa University, supporting education and research.
Protective gabion structures are being built to mitigate flood risks to the transmission towers. The facility currently supplies an average of 11 MW daily, with the upgrade expected to bolster industrial growth and socio-economic development.
