₹1,348 Crore Drinking Water Project in Kozhikode Aims for March 2027 Completion
The ₹1,348.3-crore Jal Jeevan Mission initiative in Kozhikode is set to provide drinking water to 15 grama panchayats by March 2027. Delays in construction and necessary clearances have shifted the timeline for partial commissioning to December 2026.

The Jal Jeevan Mission project in Kozhikode aims to deliver drinking water to 15 grama panchayats, with full commissioning expected by March 2027. A key component, a 100-MLD water treatment plant, is over 80% complete.
Initial plans for partial commissioning in March 2023 were hindered by delays related to a substation construction and obtaining clearances. Currently, over 60 km of the 96 km main distribution pipeline is laid, with connections to 1,26,918 households already established.
The project will utilize water from the Peruvannamuzhi reservoir, ensuring a supply of 100 liters per person daily. Challenges remain in timely completion due to interdepartmental coordination issues, potentially impacting the project timeline and community access to safe water.
