170MW Data Center Campus Proposed with Solar and Battery Storage in Boulder, NV
A 150-170MW AI data center campus is proposed in Boulder, NV, alongside solar and battery systems, aiming for construction to start in 2023. This development could enhance local energy resilience and support advanced computing needs.

Townsite Solar 2 LLC is proposing a 150-170MW AI data center campus on 88.5 acres in Boulder, Nevada, with construction potentially beginning in 2023. The site plan includes six buildings and is part of a lease option for a 55MW solar farm and a 150MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
The solar farm was approved in September 2023 and emphasizes load firming and emergency backup capabilities. The project will utilize treated effluent or air cooling to conserve water resources and will not connect to the local electrical grid, sourcing power through the open market.
A petition opposing the project has over 1,000 signatures, indicating community concern. The involvement of Arevon and Overwatch Capital in partnership for development underscores the project's significance in the region's energy landscape.
