$2 Billion Transmission Projects Launched in California's Bay Area
LS Power has initiated a $2 billion transmission infrastructure program in California's Bay Area to enhance grid reliability and meet increasing electricity demand. The projects, capable of delivering 1,000 megawatts, will support approximately 750,000 homes and align with California's clean energy objectives.

Construction for LS Power's $2 billion transmission projects commenced on May 20, 2026, in California's Bay Area. The Power Santa Clara Valley and Power the South Bay projects will enhance grid reliability and accommodate rising electricity demands driven by growth in population, data centers, and industrial consumption.
These projects will utilize high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology and include a 12-mile underground line between San José and two new converter terminals, along with a 230-kilovolt line connecting Fremont and Santa Clara. LS Power has been awarded seven competitive transmission projects since 2020, totaling over $2.5 billion in investments.
These upgrades are expected to generate $650 million in tax revenue and create approximately 300 construction jobs. The infrastructure improvements will bolster California's renewable energy integration and operational flexibility.
