200 Workers Evacuated Due to Ammonia Leak at Food Processing Facility in Truganina
An ammonia leak at a food processing facility in Truganina led to the evacuation of about 200 workers early Wednesday morning. Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to the incident on Dohertys Road at approximately 4:10 AM on December 31.
Hazmat teams entered the affected plant room and successfully isolated valves to stop the leak. The leak was contained within a 50 by 50 metre area, and no injuries were reported. Emergency services closed parts of Dohertys Road and Foundation Road during the response, which involved around 40 firefighters. The situation was declared under control shortly after 7:00 AM, with FRV crews remaining on site for further safety measures.
