310th Space Wing Commemorates Legacy Before Inactivation
The 310th Space Wing held a ceremony to honor its historical legacy ahead of its inactivation in 2027. Key figures, such as Col. William Bower and Maj. Gen. Frank Casserino, were recognized for their contributions to the unit's development in space operations.

The 310th Space Wing recently commemorated its history as it prepares for inactivation in 2027. The unit unveiled its headquarters' new name, honoring Col. William Bower, a key figure from World War II, and renamed Talon Way to Casserino Way in recognition of Maj.
Gen. Frank Casserino, who established a space operations squadron in 1993. The 310th has evolved into a wing focused on satellite command, GPS, and missile warning, a responsibility now transitioning to the Space Force.
A time capsule was buried to preserve the unit's legacy, highlighting that the essence of the wing lies in its members rather than its technology. The colors of the unit may only be lowered temporarily before being reassigned to a new mission.
