3i Infrastructure to Invest EUR 300 Million for Majority Stake in Lefdal Mine Datacenter in Norway

HYDRO POWERDATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

3i Infrastructure plc will invest about EUR 300 million to acquire a majority stake in Lefdal Mine Datacenter, with the total investment projected to be EUR 400 million. The transaction is set to complete in summer 2026 and includes acquiring a small portfolio of renewable assets, which consists of three wind farms in Sweden and two hydroelectric assets in Italy.

The datacenter currently operates 37 MW of capacity, with an additional 43 MW under construction. It benefits from Norway's low-cost electricity and uses underground infrastructure along with closed-loop seawater cooling technology. 3i Infrastructure will manage the investment and has activated a EUR 300 million accordion feature in its revolving credit facility to enhance investment flexibility while awaiting proceeds from a previous transaction.
