The Regional Programme for the Centre (Centro 2030) in Portugal has announced a €5 million call for proposals to support business investments in the space sector. This initiative, launched by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Centre (CCDRC), aims to enhance funding for start-ups and innovation projects, facilitating interactions between businesses and the scientific community.
The focus is on promoting micro and small businesses involved in both DownStream (space to earth) and UpStream (earth to space) activities, including satellite technologies, telecommunications, and health-related applications. The CCDRC highlights the region's potential for high-value job creation and economic growth, despite currently having a limited number of specialized companies in the space sector.
